MeadowSphynx throughout the years

ree

My Sphynx journey began in 2014 with my very first queen, Bella. She was the cat that started it all, and although she has sadly passed away, she will always hold a very special place in my heart.

In 2015, I brought home Cookie from Spain and Thor from Ukraine. Cookie was my dream cat — a blue-eyed white beauty I had always wished for.

By 2016, I added another boy, Kiss from Ukraine, and welcomed my very first litters of kittens. That year was unforgettable — not only because of my first babies, but also because I was invited to take part in the ITV series The Secret Life of Posh Pets. Around the same time, I also added another female, Teddie, to my cattery.

In 2017, I faced one of my first real challenges. Some of the heart scans on my cats were not satisfactory, which meant making the heartbreaking decision to neuter both breeding cats and some kittens I had planned to keep. It was a tough time, but I didn’t give up. Instead, it made me even more determined to focus on what matters most: health and longevity. For me, it has always been vital to only breed from lines that are long-lived, strong, and with excellent immunity. I don’t keep every kitten back — only the strongest and healthiest continue in my program, because my priority will always be the wellbeing of the breed, not just producing kittens.

In 2018, I added three more cats — two girls, Myshka and Dottie (Catberry Tarte Tatin), and a boy, Yummy. Out of them, Dottie became the true foundation of MeadowSphynx, producing some of the best kittens I have ever had. Her lines remain a huge part of my breeding today. Looking back, I realise Bella came from a backyard breeder — I was new and inexperienced at the time, and I made mistakes. Because of that, I didn’t keep a breeding cat from her until she was 7 years old and had passed seven clear heart scans. It was the right decision, and I’m proud to say all of Bella’s kittens are still alive and healthy to this day.

Not every cat I added worked out. Yummy turned out to be infertile, and Myshka was a carrier of Herpes, so she couldn’t stay in my program. These were difficult but important lessons that reminded me breeding is never simple — honesty, testing, and hard choices are what responsible breeding is built on.

2019 was the hardest year of all. I lost a litter of kittens to Herpes, and it absolutely broke me. I fought for them for weeks, but I couldn’t save them. The loss caused a complete mental breakdown — it was devastating beyond words. It taught me the hardest lesson of all: Herpes is one of the worst diseases a cat can face. Since then, I’ve worked tirelessly to keep my cattery clear of it, and thankfully I have been successful. It’s something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.

In early 2020, just before Covid shut the world down, I brought in a wonderful stud from the USA: Destinys A Good Cloak, known as Toby. He was everything I had hoped for — a strong, affectionate boy who made a huge impact on my breeding program. With Toby, I was finally able to produce the kind of kittens I had always dreamed of, and keep even better cats to carry on my lines. That year, Toby truly proved himself — I had four litters from him, all strong, healthy, and full of personality. I was so proud of him and his offspring. That same year, I also added another queen, Galaxy Monkeys Infinite Love — lovingly known as Dumpling.

To this day, I still have cats from Dumpling, Dottie, Teddie, and even Bella’s great-grandchildren. Seeing those lines live on in my home is so special to me, and I can honestly say they are some of the most loving, healthy cats I have ever raised.

In 2022, I added Velvetskin Sincerely Yours, also known as Mochi, from a very close friend. Mochi has been such a gift — not only beautiful, but she has produced some of the most affectionate, people-loving kittens I’ve ever had. Those kittens carry on her wonderful temperament, and I feel so lucky to have her in my program. Mochi has given us some of the most wonderful kittens one of which is Q Ch MeadowSphynx Vincerro aka Harry. Our most wonderful boy that will stay with me forever.

Additionally, we are proud founders and active members of the Sphynx Breeder List UK, promoting transparency, health, and responsible breeding practices across the community

Today, my focus is stronger than ever on health, especially heart health and immunity. Every one of my breeding cats is scanned yearly, and I work only with reliable professionals — vets, cardiologists, and trusted breeders — to make sure I am always making the very best decisions for my cats and their kittens. My kittens, and their new families, will always be my priority. Staying in touch with my owners, checking in, and watching my kittens grow up into beloved family members is one of the greatest joys of breeding.

Of course, over the years I’ve had to say goodbye to some much-loved cats. Cookie (Hayana Galetta) and Kiss (Charm / Bald Aliens Kiss) both passed away from heart disease, and Thor died at 9 from kidney disease. Teddie, Dottie, and Dumpling have since gone on to loving pet homes, because as much as I wish I could keep them all, it would be impossible to carry on breeding that way.

Every decision I make, whether joyful or heartbreaking, is guided by the same principle: to protect the breed I love, and to raise strong, healthy, affectionate kittens who bring as much happiness to others as my Sphynx have brought to me.

My order just arrived and I’m obsessed! It isn’t easy to find a well fitting Sphynx shirt, but these do the trick! We live in Florida, where the weather only varies from warm to HOT. But, my cats hang out sometimes on the lanai outside and we were looking for a thin shirt to protect our baby’s skin from the sun. These are perfect! This company offers all types of fabrics but also a thin comfy shirt that is exactly what we needed! Ordering was simple, customer service was outstanding and promptly answered a question I had via email, pricing was fair, sizing was spot on, shipping times were reasonable and the shirts are PERFECT!

Kinga Edwards, as a breeder, I must say that your dedication to this unique breed is truly exceptional. Your love for each and every cat in your care is unmistakable, as you devote countless hours to their upbringing and socialisation. I couldn't be happier with Phoenix. And also, thank you for the lovely clothes, Phoenix has so many of your outfits, and not only they fit him perfectly but they are also very stylish and comfy! After all the proof is in the pudding

I can’t recommend Meadowsphynx (Kinga Edwards) enough. We got our beautiful kitten from her last year, and I’ve never known a more confident, loving, and sociable cat.

We were placed on a waiting list and had a thorough home check before getting to choose our kitten. Kinga was more than happy to answer any of our questions along the way and still keeps in touch now.

We also received plenty updates from birth up until the day she came to live with us, so we felt as though we really got to see her grow along the way.
